If you have ever been to the 4711 fragrance house, you may still have it in your nose: the scent of bergamot, lemon, lavender and rosemary with a base note of neroli! Whether for Cologne residents or the more than 100,000 international visitors each year, the flagship store is a special place to go - because here, everyone can experience the exciting world of Eaux de Cologne!
The 4711 fragrance house is located right in the heart of Cologne. Since its last redesign in 2017, it has once again stood for tradition and our close ties to the city - and for innovation and modernity. The fragrance house is no longer just a sales room for products: it is also a museum, conference and event room for meetings, fragrance seminars, fragrance menus, concerts and cultural events.

ENTER THE WORLD OF 4711

Nothing represents 4711 more than its iconic color, Bremen blue! The entire interior of the house is bathed in this color. The hand-made tapestry is one of the landmarks and shows in the entrance area how 4711 got its name in the 18th century: from a French rider who gave the house its numbering. If you need a refreshment after so many impressions, you can get one at our popular fragrance fountain, from which 4711 Genuine Eau de Cologne bubbles, of course!

A SNIFF IN HISTORY ON THE UPPER FLOOR

On the trail of the 4711 cult: In the museum, exhibits such as historical products, pictures and bottle shapes provide an exciting insight into times gone by. From the gallery, you can also get a unique, up-close view of the chandelier: it consists of 108 empty 4711 bottles! At Christmas time, Cologne's largest Advent wreath also hangs here. A ROOM FULL OF POSSIBILITIES: THE FRAGRANCE BAR

At the heart of the house, a world of wonder invites you to experience 4711 with your nose, palate and soul: the fragrance bar. Our fragrance seminars take place at the long conference table made of solid wood, where visitors create their own personal cologne to take away. Individual tables on the left and right invite you to the culinary fragrance menus, which make fragrances come alive in a 4-course menu. The architectural highlight is the floating, Gothic windows that divide the room into individual areas. The combination of natural stone, brass, powder-coated steel and wood give the room a multi-layered character.

EVEN FROM THE OUTSIDE, THE ARCHITECTURE UNITES THE WORLDS

The neo-Gothic façade is based on the historical model that was destroyed by bombing raids in the Second World War: another symbol of the centuries-old history of the 4711 brand - which at the same time builds a bridge between tradition and modernity. The newly constructed shop window presents fragrances and decorations in the style of large, traditional department stores. It is worth standing in front of it on the hour between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. to hear the famous chimes of the building's 20 bells!

Anyone who looks at the 4711 fragrance house from the outside sees one of the most traditional buildings in Cologne - and perhaps at first they don't expect what is hidden inside: a modern flagship store that is reminiscent of a studio or a factory and offers a diverse world of experience from 4711! We are delighted to offer visitors from all over the world a real stage for fragrance knowledge and scented waters that they can experience with all their senses.
